HUGHES VS WENGER: THE WAR RAGES ON

If you saw the Carling Cup tie last night, you'd know that the real fight wasn't on the pitch but on the sidelines. Mark Hughes and Arsene Wenger were quarreling like little kids and unfortunately, the tension didn't level out.

Arsene Wenger refused to shake Mark Hughes' hand.

Hughes-"Maybe he's used to winning games and when he does lose sometimes he doesn't know how to behave."

Wenger's rebuttal- "I think I have nothing to say. I am free to shake hands with whom I want after the game."

Hughes continues- "At one point I was over on his side of the technical area and he seemed to be a bit aggrieved by that. But I think he is probably more aggrieved because he got beaten. I have been to the Emirates Stadium and been beaten 6-2 but I still offered my hand at the end. It is the least you can do. I am a little bit disappointed in that respect. You should be a bit more gracious than that because it is unnecessary. We all hurt when we get beaten, but you should always offer your hand."

When suggested in a post match interview that shaking one's hand is 'proffessional courtesy', Wenger replied sarcastically, "I have no professional courtesy."

CARLO ANCELOTTI DEFENDS LINE UP

Ancelotti's side lost last night's match after a fatal miss kick by 18 year old Gael Kakuta.

Ancelotti- "This is good for our season. I wanted to see our young players. I think they did a good job. It was a good opportunity to gain experience.

"We are disappointed but I think that we did a very good job with 10 versus 11 - we played with spirit, with heart," added Ancelotti. "I took a risk with three players coming on at half-time. It was a new line-up for us and sometimes it doesn't work, but in second half it was better. It was impossible for Kalou to come back on - he was injured. We need to assess him on Thursday but we hope he will recover quickly."

Do you think he made the right decision?
