Cheeky Pele dismisses Diego Maradona's claim to be world's best ever footballer
Pele has reignited his feud with Diego Maradona in an entertaining interview with the Spanish media.
While humbly dismissing his own claims to be the world's greatest player, he also dismissed those of his Argentine rival, claiming Maradona couldn't be considered as 'he couldn't kick well with his right foot and he didn't score headed goals.'
Then, with a rhetorical flourish which will endear him to England fans still smarting from Maradona's 'Hand of God' goal in the 1986 World Cup quarter-final, Pele added: 'The only important headed goal that Maradona ever scored was scored with his hand!'
Pele's vote for the greatest ever? Real Madrid's Argentine Alfredo de Stefano.
